NDAL programming has featured visionary creative and ecological minds, from Ian McHarg to Doug Tallamy to Leslie Sauer to Nigel Dunnett.

Rebecca McMackin

Rebecca is an ecologically obsessed horticulturist and garden designer. She has spent the last decade as Director of Horticulture of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she manages 85 acres of diverse parkland organically and with an eye towards habitat creation for birds, butterflies, and soil microorganisms.

Xerces Society

The preeminent invertebrate conservation organization in North America. They are named after the now extinct Xerces Blue Butterfly, Glaucopsyche xerces, the first known butterfly species to go extinct from human related activities.  They have a wealth of resources avaiable on their website.

Butterflies and Moths Database

This website is a citizen science effort to collect, store, and distribute data on species and their occurances across the continent.  BAMONA is a rich data source that grows daily. Citizen scientists of all ages and experience levels participate by taking photographs of butterflies and moths and then submitting their observations.

When you have a thriving pollinator habitat this can be a useful tool for ID as well as a fun way to document the different species you see and add to their evergrowing database!
